Juxtaposition is key in this Scottsdale, Arizona, powder room, which features a 17th-century Baroque reproduction mirror surrounded by contemporary fixtures and hardware. The geometric pattern of the wallpaper and gold finishes throughout add their own touches of boldness to the tableau.
These clients wanted an updated fireplace wall with the TV centered over the fireplace that fit in with a Desert Modern theme.
The goal for these clients who enjoy entertaining on a regular basis was to create an open concept kitchen design with access to the backyard for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The kitchen was originally tucked away in a corner toward the front side of the house making it small and dark with no access to the backyard. It was decided that the kitchen should trade places with the guest bedroom located just off the great room.
Regardless of the design style of the home powder rooms are often the space where clients are willing to be bold and adventuresome. And that is exactly what we did for the client.
These clients were looking to make their newly purchased second home in Arizona a desert modern retreat from their busy lives in the Midwest. When it came to the great room the goal was to create a space that was cozy and comfortable, yet, open and inviting. A place for complete relaxation.
